Fashion Costumes

If you are scrambling for a last minute costume before Saturday night parties or next Wednesday, I have few pretty easy ideas for you fashionistas.

Iris Apfel, if you've never heard of her, you really should have, she's one of the most notoriously dressed women in New York, the key is the glasses and the white hair.

Twiggy, all it takes is some good make up and a little 60's outfit to look like this icon.

Kate Middleton is always styling, and all you need is a fabulous, if not conservative ensemble and you can get a knock off of her engagement ring at most fashion jewelry stores.

Michelle Obama is an emblem of grace and style, just like Princess Kate all you really need is something first lady worthy and a strand of pearls.

Daisy Buchanan - Great Gatsby is being remade and comes out next year, but who says you need to wait for 1920's fashions.

Annie Hall - Hello menswear department, hello Annie Hall.

Bonnie - This look requires a hat, scarf and gun. If you're lucky maybe you can find a partner in crime.

Holly Golightly - This is not so simple as say, Twiggy, but I could easily throw this together in an hour. Black dress, gloves, pearls, tiara and if you can find it, a cigarette holder.

Well, there are a few ideas, I hope you enjoy your Halloween celebrations. Stay stylish.

Keep Toasty

Now that Oregon's weather has turned to wet and cold, it is time to pull out the winter jackets. My closet needed an update so I did a little research on some new styles for this season. Sassy to sweet and classic to edgy, find your coat this season.

This sweet fit and flare has a great silhouette and the color is flattering too, this is my choice for an outdoor date.

Portland's FashioNxt Wrap-up

Not only have I managed to make it to this years week of fashion fabulous-ness, FashioNxt, but I've also had a sneak peak at backstage fashions. Thursday night the line up included Amanda Grisham, Lizz Basinger, Moontess, Raylene Designs, Nelii Millard, and Becky Ross. Here are a few shots I grabbed of the super-secret (except the 50+ people) goings-on back stage.
Perfecting every last detail to the looks.

Cosmetic artists creating the initial look while a photographer takes photos.

Hurry up and wait and wait and wait. Poor model.

Having a few laughs: the show staff, models, and designers do a little dancing.

Tonight's line up of Stephanie D. Couture, Silvania, Gordana Gelhausen and Michael Costello will close the festivities. If you can't miss it the exhibits start at 6 and runway seating starts at 8 with a post-show market at 5555 N. Channel Ave. Portland OR 97217. Stay stylish.

Stay Gold

While the weather here may still be summery, it is fall. If you're like me you are on the lookout for some new additions to your wardrobe. Gold can be gaudy but it is one of my favorite trends for this season. Although designer looks are out of my budget (what with tuition for fashion school and all) that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the eye candy! So I've gathered a few inspirations for you as well and whether you can afford them or like me, simply dream of the days you can, I hope you will enjoy the shimmer of gold.

BCBG Max Azria Rose Gold Misha Flats - $195

I always need some great flats for the days of trekking around the city and these are just shiny enough to suit me.
Diane Von Furstenberg Gale Metallic Blouse & Naples Metallic Twill Shorts - $345 & $295

While I might never pair these together that doesn't mean both wouldn't mix and match well with other pieces!

B Brian Atwood Fontann Sugar Paint Platform Pump - $350

I just love how the body of the shoe is gold shimmer but the platform is blue and the heel is red. It gives it a little more attitude than your classic black pump.

Michael Kors Chantilly Lace Skirt - $6,995

Since I am a girly kind of girl I never say no to a romantic lace skirt and when I saw this Chantilly lace, I just swooned.

alice + olivia Caryn Full Skirt Dress - $695

This dress is my dream for any and every holiday party this year. The gold embroidery gives it texture and shine.

alice + olivia Larimore Laser Cut Pumps - $325

Stacey Bendel gets it right again with these intricately designed  pumps that could easily last seasons in my closet.

Donna Karan Slim Stretch Metallic Pants -$1295

I don't know about you but if I wear some tight gold pants I don't want to look like I just stepped out of the 80's and these I thought were so fantastic that I could never look bad in them. (I hope I'm right.)
Alexis Bittar Small Crystal Tear Earrings - $245

Alexis Bittar jewelry is always on my list of must-haves and these teardrop earrings are on the top of the list.

Kate Spade New York Sonny Skirt - $298

This silhouette is incredibly flattering and I love the darker shade of gold.

Alexander McQueen Embroidered Cotton Tank - $635

I couldn't leave out McQueen. This tank is simply gorgeous.

rag & bone Tuxedo Jacket - $595

Classic, clean and a touch of glamorous.

Nanette Lepore Society Sequin Sheath Dress - $398

When it comes to gold you can't leave out sequins. This sheath dress has an elaborate design that doesn't overpower it while making it a showstopper!

I just love the glamour of  all this shine. Stay stylish and stay gold.

Emmy Fashion Recap

Fashions were fierce at the Emmy's last night.  I was proud to see so many wonderful looking ensembles. However there were also some horrors, so I'd just like to present some of my pics for the fabulous and flops.
 Julia Louise-Dreyfus in Vera Wang

  Julie Bowen in Monique Lhuillier

 Tina Fey in Vivian Westwood.

Sarah Hyland wowed in Marchesa.

One of my favorites, Ariel Winter stunning in Katharine Kidd.

My other favorite, Kat Denning dropping jaws in J. Mendel.

Others I thought looked incredible were;  Kerry Washington, Heidi Klum, Hilaria Thomas & Alec Baldwin, Jane Krakowski, Morena Baccarin, Kathy Griffin, Sarah Paulson, Ginnifer Goodwin, Emily Van Camp, Max Greenfield and date, Kate Mara, Anna Chlumsky, Julianne Hough, Jane Levy, Maria Menounos, Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, and Sofia Vergara.
There were a few who definitely flopped on fashion such as...

Lena Dunham looked undersized in this Prada dress.

Glenn Close's dress by Bibhu Moahpatra was a slashing disaster.

Although I've gotten hooked on Downton Abbey, Michelle Dockery's Louis Vuitton was a disaster with puckers and wrinkles everywhere.
Zosia Marnet made me cringe in Bibhu Moahpatra.

Others who needed some style assistance were; Christina Hendricks, Julianna Marguiles, Julianne Moore, Elisabeth Moss, Ashley Judd, Claire Danes, Zooey Deschanel, Portia de Rossi and Melissa McCarthy.  Images courtesy of eonline.com.

I hope you all enjoyed the fashions at this years Emmy Awards. Stay stylish.
